Hello Fellow Journeyers,
What I'm most looking forward to reading:
The Bard's Blade is classic fantasy and since I've been exploring a lot of classic fantasy lately, I'm excited to see it done with today's modern touches. I've never read anything by Brian D. Anderson before but I'm hopeful that his writing will be as comfortable, easy, and good as people say. This story revolves around two main characters who are linked by love and must explore the outer world from their safety of home. It sounds untraditional for being a classic fantasy story that I think could be great.
Happy 2022! With a new year brings new books to read and many reviews to write. Just as an update for what I'm currently reading, here is what we have on the agenda so far.
What I'm currently reading:
Howling Dark is the sequel to Empire of Silence, which I really enjoyed reading last year. This one takes place many years later in the confusing space of time that this series tends to treat very lackadaisically but I'm excited to get into this book as so many people say this is the book that makes the series really good from. So far, lots of action has taken place, but I'm not as invested as I would like. We'll see as I get further in what happens.
Of Blood and Fire is a fantasy story by new author Ryan Cahill very much in the same vein of Eragon. It's a story about a boy discovering his "not chosen" destiny to become a protector of the people's of his land and face down an empire of oppression. It's been a fun read that hasn't waned in the interest category.
What I'm hoping to read and finish in the first quarter of 2022:
The Stones of Aer and Dragon Mage are both books I've been slowly working on for a long time but I've made little progress on because of their lengths. Instead of being fast progression-wise, they're slow and methodic, especially once you get into them and they will take some deliberate intentionality for me to get through them. I'm excited to finally get some of the long-awaited books off my "to be read" list and these two are my first I would like to get done with.
What I'm most looking forward to reading:
Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for future updates and reviews!
